FabLab.iMAL is a workplace open for the people to learn, experiment, share, create and make with digital fabrication technologies (and more generally new technologies) in a collaborative and cooperative process of knowledge building and exchange.

iMAL, Center for Digital Cultures and Technology, opened the first FabLab in Brussels (BE) in 2012.

FabLab.iMAL is a digital manufacturing workplace where anyone (artist, designer, engineer, developer, tinkerer, student, citizen...), independantly of his/her education level, can come to experiment, learn and create all kinds of objects (artistic or design object, interactive object, technical object, prototype, etc.). Members of a FabLab form a community: they help each other, share their knowledge, build knowledge together in an open and collaborative process integrated to the FabLabs' global network.

FabLab.iMAL organizes training activities (eg. workshops), welcomes artists and designers in residency, participates to awareness-raising activities on techniques and issues around digital fabrication, DIY and open source objects.

FabLab.iMAL is also a center of resources and expertise on new processes allowing the realization of ideas into objects.

En 2012, iMAL, Centre de Cultures et Technologie Digitales, ouvre le premier FabLab de Bruxelles (BE).

FabLab.iMAL est un atelier de fabrication où toute personne (artiste, designer, ingénieur, développeur, bricoleur, étudiant, citoyen,..), quelque soit son niveau de formation, peut venir expérimenter, apprendre ou fabriquer tous types d'objets (objet artistique ou design, objet interactif, objet technique, prototype, etc...). Les membres d'un FabLab forment une communauté: ils s'entraident, échangent leur savoir-faire, construisent en commun leur connaissance dans des processus de collaboration ouverts intégrés au réseau global des FabLabs.

FabLab.iMAL organise des activités de formation (ex. workshops), accueille des artistes et designers en résidence, participe à des activités de sensibilisation sur les techniques et enjeux autour de la fabrication numérique, du DIY et de l'open source des objets.

FabLab.iMAL se veut aussi un centre de ressources et d'expertise sur les nouveaux processus permettant la matérialisation d'idées en objets.

FabLab.iMAL is een creatieve werkplaats waar iedereen (kunstenaars, designers, ingenieurs, ontwerpers, doe-het-zelvers, studenten, burgers...), onafhankelijk van zijn/haar opleidingsniveau, kan komen om te experimenteren, leren en verschillende objecten (artistieke of design objecten, interactieve objecten, technische objecten, prototype, enz.) te ontwerpen. Leden van een FabLab vormen een gemeenschap: ze kunnen elkaar helpen, kennis delen, samen expertise opbouwen en bijdragen aan het wereldwijde fablab-netwerk.

FabLab.iMAL organiseert opleidingsactiviteiten (bv. workshops), onthaalt kunstenaars en designers in residentie en draagt bij tot een bewustmaking over digitale fabricage-technieken, DIY en open source.

FabLab.iMAL is ook een centrum van middelen en expertise over nieuwe processen, die de realisatie van ideeën in objecten mogelijk maken.
