You'll find schopenhauer right in front of one of our picturesque canals, in the heart of the most beautiful city in the world.

Geschiedenis

We're situated right in the Ghent artists and antiques quarter; some call it 'Rive Gauche'. Think vintage shops, art schools, boat trips, hip restaurants, trendy dresses, hats and suits and the big Veldstraat shopping street behind the corner. Every sunday morning Belgium's oldest book market is in front of our door!

So, couple of months ago we've got a crazy idea: why not create some space, an environment where people can actually sleep amidst paintings and other products of the mind and soul? The Ghent art schools are behind the corner... Well, in our house you'll be able to enjoy their art in your room, quietly, without a museum crowd of art fanatics breathing in your neck, or, which is even worse: making the noises that can't be avoided while eating potato chips! Yes: you'll be in a direct, personal, intimate, confronting dialogue with the artist. And there's old art in our place too - because new art can only exist in a continuing confrontation with the past. (This we found in an encyclopedia, so it forcibly must be right.)

So, this is where schopenhauer stands for: giving beautiful people the opportunity to spend some time in a close encounter with crazy art. And vice versa, of course.
