SHARE is a resettlement network of cities, regions and local actors committed to offering protection and welcome for refugees resettled to Europe.

Geschiedenis

ICMC Europe serves as the ICMC regional office for Europe and follows migration and asylum policy developments within the European Union, advocating for protection, legal access, needs-first and rights-based responses to migrants and refugees in Europe.

To promote cooperation and exchange on the protection, reception and integration of refugees in Europe, ICMC Europe and partners, have developed the SHARE Network, creating a platform gathering European local and regional authorities, as well as civil society organizations. Over 800 stakeholders in 20 European countries (LINK MAP) have participated in the SHARE network until now, including cities and local NGOs, universities, churches, employment and housing agencies, language institutes, medical and psycho-social care providers.

SHARE raises awareness about the fact that reception and integration is fundamentally affected by the extent to which refugees are welcomed into their new communities. SHARE promotes welcoming communities, relying on local citizens and institutions being aware and supportive of refugee protection, and willing to support integration by creating opportunities for refugees to participate in local life.

SHARE shares volunteer and other citizens and churches initiatives across Europe, acknowledging that these are a vital way to establish direct contact and opportunities between refugees and local citizens. Volunteers can also play an essential role in fostering longer term integration, countering isolation, understanding the local culture and in improving language skills and understanding of the labor market.

The campaign #RefugeesHaveRights has been developed by ICMC and ECRE in the context of the SHARE network, co-financed by the European Commission, to raise awareness among citizens about the right of refugees to have rights.
