Geschiedenis

Fondation Euractiv is a Belgian foundation set up in January 2004.

The activities of Fondation Euractiv PoliTech include:

@ Social Media, Political Technologies and EU stakeholders’ projects departement:

The social media and political technologies (e-Politics, e-Participation, e-Democracy, e-Diplomacy, e-Citizenship, e- Governance and e-Government) arm of Fondation EurActiv PoliTech and EurActiv.com network, aiming to reinvent politics and governance in cyberspace. It includes the EU stakeholders and European Affairs blogging platform BlogActiv.eu (the premier source of content on the future of Europe), Social Media, Web 2.0, political technologies and mobile and smart device applications.

It also handles the stakeholders and EU projects side dealing with these issues in collaboration and with the full support of the other departments and affiliates of the EurActiv.com network. This unit is the result of the integration of:

a) POLITECH INSTITUTE (European Center of Political Technologies), the sole independent European Centre of Excellence with a pan-European vision in Political Technologies.

b) Blogactiv.eu – the leading blogging platform in EU circles into the Fondation EurActiv PoliTech.

@ Research: identifying sources of information and intelligence on European Union policies and their impact on European Actors;

@ Advice: assisting European media and their content partners to access and then diffuse information;

@ Logistical support to partners: the CrossLingual Brussels Network Office at the International Press Center is helping 12 media in 12 languages that are based outside Belgium;

@ Training: providing speakers and moderators for conferences as well as policy training for journalists and young professionals.

Fondation EurActiv PoliTech is part of EurActiv.com network, a multilingual media network, targeting EU policy and business stakeholders, journalists, NGOs and other multipliers in Europe in 12 languages. With nearly two million page views and 590,000 ‘unique visitors’ per month (Google Analytics March 2010), it is the leading online media on EU affairs. EurActiv provides a ‘one-stop shop’ where users can compare major stakeholder positions, original source documents and informed opinion from guru bloggers. The EurActiv.com portal is firmly established as the favourite online platform for Brussels and national professionals in EU policies. It brings together journalistic independence with transparency and practical efficiency, complementing the existing EU media and institutional websites.

Since May 2010, EurActiv.com includes EUX.TV [www.eux.tv], producer and publisher of online video content focusing on European Union policies and politics via both the EurActiv Network’s sites, including its blogging platform Blogactiv.eu, and via EUX.TV’s online channel. With more than 10 million video views since it was created in October 2006, EUX.TV has become one of the leading online video channels focusing on EU policies and politics. EUX.TV’s founder is Dutch journalist Raymond Frenken, former EU Correspondent and Brussels Bureau Chief for the CNBC Europe business news channel. EUX.TV is an official YouTube partner channel, under a contract with Google Inc.

Since May 2008, Fondation EurActiv PoliTech has been an Observer Member of the Global Cities Dialogue and is its point of contact for Belgian Cities and European organisations.
