EUNIC Brussels members co-operate in the development and execution of uniquely multilateral cultural projects and initiatives.
EUNIC Brussels is the framework through which EU national cultural institutions, with a permanent presence in Belgium, together with their networks throughout Europe co-operate in the development and execution of uniquely multilateral cultural projects and initiatives. EUNIC Brussels’ activities compliment the national role and the cultural programs of its member institutes.
EUNIC Brussels is a project driven voluntary organisation which reflects diversity in all its forms while at the same time recognizing the importance of Europe’s common cultural heritage. It organizes joint actions based on common European interests with the aim of deepening understanding and respect between people. EUNIC Brussels does not represent the interests of any specific cultural sector and its activities include projects in the arts, education, language, civil society among others.
Since its establishment in 1997 CICEB/EUNIC in Brussels has enjoyed a close working relationship with the EU Commission and other EU institutions. It has successfully responded to calls for proposals with a wide range of culture related projects.
With its 20 European full members and 9 associate partners, EUNIC Brussels is itself a good example of European cultural cooperation. The Presidency of EUNIC Brussels rotates annually as do the main officers. Currently the Presidency is held by the Alliance Française de Bruxelles-Europe and Vice-presidencies by the Cultural Service of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux.
Acknowledging today's cultural challenges EUNIC Brussels is focusing on Intercultural Dialogue, Multilingualism and European Citizenship.
