Geschiedenis

Werken is a small village in Kortemark, a part of West Flanders, Belgium.Archaeological and historical sites The Hoge Andjoen is a motte that dates from somewhere between the eighth and the ninth century. Saint Martinus Kerk, one of the first churches in the area — The original church made of wood dates from the 8th century the current building and was rebuilt on several occasions in history. The present building was rebuilt after the first world war of 1918 in its original Roman style. Around the church lies a graveyard with an ommehang.
