UNICA is a network of 51 universities from 37 capital cities of Europe
UNICA is a network of 46 universities from 35 capital cities of Europe, with a combined strength of over 150,000 staff and 1,800,000 students.
Following its motto Sharing, learning, adding value, UNICA Network provides its member universities with a platform where different representatives of academic communities (among them academic leadership, academics, administrators, and students) can discuss current challenges, share their practices and reflect together on the demands of strategic change.
UNICA brings together the experts of its member universities in 10 Working Groups, discussing different areas of universities' activity, from internationalisation (International Relations Officers Group), EU research, the European HE policy (UNICA Bologna Lab), to doctoral supervision (PhD Offcers Group & UNICA PhD Master Class), university PR & Communication, scholarly communication and environmental sustainability (UGAF initiative, www.ugaf.eu).
Every 2 years since 2000, the Network organises UNICA Student Conferences, each one gathering more than 200 students from UNICA member universities.
The specificity of UNICA lies in the fact that its member universities are based in the capital cities of Europe: UNICA seeks to be a facilitator in strengthening the links and cooperation between the universities and the cities by collaborating with organization like the Union of the Capitals of the European Union, organising conferences and seminars, and promoting good city-university practices.
