This is an EU PROJECT 2015/0058 which is managed by INOVA+ with ZEW and BAE & EBAN, aiming to gather data regarding the business angel landscape in R&I.
The primary aim of this project is to provide a clearer picture of business angel activities in Europe and their nature and impact within the funding landscape of research and innovation. by analysing and comparing particular aspects of the existing business angel structures (individuals, companies, networks and syndicates) and their funding schemes within the European Union member states, but also within the Associated Countries in H2020 as far as robust data is available. This will contribute to a better understanding the structure of this community.
Beyond generating knowledge about the structures surrounding business angel activities in funding research and innovation, the project also aims at contributing to a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the business angels market. In order to achieve this, the project will collect information from individual business angels. This allows us to uncover hitherto underexplored information regarding the nature of business angel investment, the attributes of investors, and risks, rewards, opportunities, and limiting factors of business angel investment as they perceive them.
