Our Bar is an enterprise that opens itself up for all kinds of venues.

Geschiedenis

This year our bar, situated at the historic epicenter of Ghent and is protected as a landscape, exists in its current state about 101 years. In 1912 the Graslei and also 'Den Inghel'(as it was called back than) got reconstructed for the worldexpo the following year that was held in the city of Ghent. The cellar that houses TheCellarBAR is believed to be way older than that though and was build aproximately around 1500 of the Graslei's existance as a grain market stockingplace. As grain trading was a right in Ghent the epicenter was soon a fact and the Graslei provided a huge part of Belgium with gains and wheats. The building that we know now as Den Enghel was build after an existing house on scale, brick per brick, standing at one time at the Catalonie straat here in Ghent. The GuildenHouse of masons(word by word translated from dutch) as it is called got rebuild in 1912 for it's beauty at the graslei and is currently known as Den Enghel. So, we actually gather and enjoy ourselves in the original basement made in approximately 15th century. At a certain point it became a meeting point for skippers that docked at the Graslei after moving all the grains and hays for a nice regionally brewed beer or/and Jenever.
