Geschiedenis

The British and Commonwealth Women's Club of Brussels (BCWCB) was founded in 1963 to provide an opportunity for women of all ages and walks of life to meet each other, to pursue hobbies and interests, to take up new ones and help newcomers settle into their new community. We now have around 300 members.

Membership is primarily for women who are themselves, or who are married to, a citizen of the UK or a Commonwealth country. However, membership can be extended to other nationalities with an interest in the Club's aims and activities. The Club is non-profit making and is run by its Members.

We get together for all kinds of activities and share fun and friendship. We have language classes, book club, golf, Pilates, bridge, art classes, cookery lessons, music appreciation, and much more. Or we simply get together for a lunch, or coffee and a chat. There is also have an extensive English language lending library for both adult and children's books and also DVDs.

You may have the impression that we are an old fashioned "Women's Institute" kind of a club, but not at all - we are very active and members of all ages enjoy each others company and lots of laughter.

We have our own Clubhouse in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, which is very easy to get to by car or public transport. The Clubhouse and its facilities are open from Monday to Friday and are run by volunteer Club Members.

In addition to the central Clubhouse there are five local areas with a Contact Person who organises coffee mornings, activities and trips on a local basis. They are also there to give support to members should difficulties arise.

Our monthly magazine, Passport, contains articles of interest, as well as giving details of the Club's activities and all upcoming events.
