European New Towns and Pilot Cities Platform (ENTP)
The ENTP is the organisation representing pilot urban developments, new towns, and fast growing cities. Founded in 2001, the organization is now a strong network of 32 members and 10 partners from 11 European countries. ENTP members are local governments from European New Towns, and our partners consist of research centers, national and international networks, NGOs, and other public bodies.
The ENTP has 2 main purposes:
-For its members: to work as a platform to exchange information, share good practices and implement common projects.
-At the European level: to work as an advocacy body to represent the New Towns, promote and strengthen their role on a regional and transnational level.
The ENTP has 3 main themes:
-Sustainable development
-Urban regeneration
-Social cohesion
The general tasks of the ENTP to achieve these objectives can be summarized in the following points:
-To promote exchange of information and experience trough workshops and conferences (General Assembly, Study Visit in Shanghai...)
-To inform New Towns about the activities of the European Union and relevant programs, especially Structural Funds (Training Days, Newsletter...)
-To encourage development of common concrete projects on urban regeneration, social cohesion and sustainable development
-To participate in the dialogue with the European Institutions
-To guarantee more visibility for New Towns
-To act as an expert and coordinator of European projects (INTERREG, URBACT...)
