The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) is the leading not-for-profit organisation addressing how the environment affects human health in the European Union (EU) and beyond.

Geschiedenis

As a diverse network of over 70 international and national not-for-profit organisations of citizens, patients, and health professionals, plus environmental groups and public health institutes, HEAL is the leading coalition of environment and health organisations working at the level of the European Union (EU). Our widespread membership allows us to also work at the international, national and local levels.

Beginning in 2003 as the environmental ‘wing’ of the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), HEAL was created to bring the health voice to the centre of a wide spectrum of EU environmental policies, and to integrate environmental concerns in public health decisions.

HEAL works to create better representation of expertise and evidence from the health community in the decision making processes. We have a strong track record of increasing public and expert engagement in the debates and decision-making processes on environment and health in the EU and World Health Organization (WHO).

HEAL has become one of major voices in the environment and health community within the EU, and thanks to our members, partners and secretariat team, we continue to grow and gather expertise from throughout Europe and beyond.
