Geschiedenis
SsangYong has a great reputation as a manufacturer of SUV and RV. The company's goal, through collaboration with Mahindra is to play a leading role on international automobile markets. The first shot is given with the launch of the SsangYong Korando C200 completely remodeled.

1954 
SsangYong was founded in 1954 and boasts a production car for nearly half a century. The first activity was the production of commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses and special vehicles such as fire engines.

1986 
In 1986, Keohwa Motors, which specializes in producing jeeps, joined the group SsangYong.

1988 
After a solid investment, Korando 4WD, the first SUV from a Korean automaker, has been developed in 1988. Since then, SsangYong sets the tone in South Korea in the development and production of SUVs. 
   
1990 
In the early nineties, Mercedes-Benz AG has invested in SsangYong Motor to an alliance and strategic cooperation in the field of technology, management and distribution. Small trucks (1991), diesel engines (1993), luxury cars (1993) and gasoline engines (1993) were part of the partnership. SsangYong Motor was thus able to develop and commercialize technologically advanced cars.

1993 
In 1993, SsangYong launched the Musso, an SUV with distinctive styling and outstanding performance. The modern engine plant in Changwon was commissioned in 1994 and the van Istana (known as the MB100), jointly developed with Mercedes-Benz, was commercialized in 1995 by SsangYong Motor. The New Korando followed a year later.

1997 
In 1997, SsangYong entered the field of luxury cars with the Chairman.

1997 
In fall 1997, SsangYong suffered, just like any Korean company, the economic depression that raged across Asia. In 1998, the company entered the Daewoo Group. Once the crisis is over, SsangYong has separated from Daewoo and was launched as an independent company. Various reorganizations were then conducted, R & D capabilities have been expanded and the distribution network has been completely revised.

2001 
The Rexton was marketed in 2001, followed in 2003 by the 'New Chairman' and 'New Rexton' features a common rail diesel engine of 2.7 liters. A year later, the innovative MPV, the Rodius, arrived on the market. The other new models have emerged over the last ten years were the Kyron, the Actyon and Actyon Sports.

2007 
In 2007, SsangYong Motor launched the New Vision program to enable the company to grow into an internationally active group on the basis of high quality and a long-term strategic plan.

2010 
The business problems solved, the future looks great now with the next collaboration with Mahindra. We worked hard to develop new models and new technologies. By naming Alcopa as SsangYong importer in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, in addition to existing importing in Switzerland, SsangYong has a strong distribution partner in an important part of the Europe.
