Les « Serpents Ribo ».

Après environ 180 ans d’interruption en Belgique la facture du serpent redémarre à Bruxelles !
En février 2011 sonne le premier prototype de serpent réalisé par Pierre Ribo en 
collaboration avec le musicien Christophe Morisset.
L’instrument est conçu d’après un instrument original anonyme de la fin du XVIII appartenant et ayant été joué par Michel Godard.
Actuellement plusieurs instruments ont été réalisés, permettant ainsi d’affiner les recherches techniques (colles, travail du cuir, branche d’embouchure) pour encore plus de justesse, d’homogénéité sonore et d’ergonomie.

After a break of 180 years, production of  the serpent has restarted in Bruxelles, Belgium!
In February 2011  the first serpent prototype was made by the serpentmaker Pierre Ribo in collaboration with the musician Christophe Morisset.
This instrument was made according to an original model  of an anonymus serpentmaker of  the 18th century played by and belonging to Michel Godard.
Recently several other instruments have been made allowing Pierre Ribo to develop his technical research of materials (glue, leather, leadpipe) resulting in a better intonation, sound and ergonomy.
