A public and professional glass studio for the 'glocal' community, being established in the heart of Gent, Belgium.

Geschiedenis
EN:   Gent Glas is a non-profit organization focused on establishing a professional and public glass studio in the heart of Ghent.  One of our goals is to work with local and international artists and artisans.  We also plan to demonstrate the seduction of glass to tourists and cultural aficianados alike.  Through social outreach we will bring all of these people together with the local community.  In order to create an ongoing community, it is  important to create a sustainable foundation.  Therefore, one of our main focuses is to develop equipment that is ecologically sound and reduces our impact on the environment.  Most importantly, Gent Glas will become a meeting place for creative people to build a enduring relationship with the international glass community.

NL:   Gent Glas is een vzw die een professionele publieke glasstudio wil oprichten. De missie van onze glasstudio is om zowel met lokale én internationale kunstenaars/ ambachtslieden te werken als met toeristen en cultuurliefhebbers. Daarnaast is het creëren van een sociale glasstudio ook een van onze doelstellingen, we willen namelijk werken aan een buurtgericht outreachment. We willen mensen die de kans niet zouden krijgen om met glas te werken, aansporen om te leren glasblazen. Ook verliezen wij het ecologische aspect niet uit het oog. We proberen een zo laag mogelijk ecologisch impact te hebben.
Van het grootste belang voor ons: een ontmoetingsplaats worden waar creatieve mensen een blijvende relatie kunnen opbouwen met de internationale gemeenschap glaskunst.
