Info Afrika Filmfestival, for some a fixed value in the film landscape, for others still unknown territory. Come and discover everything the flourishing African filmindustry has to offer. Geschiedenis The audience in Flanders has a very negative and narrow-minded vision of Africa. This is not surprising, knowing that the media and even some NGO’s are depicting Africa as a continent of dictators, aids patients and raped women. There is little room for nuances, and other topics are seldom treated. Showing the other side of Africa is the most important aim of our festival. We want to communicate about an Africa that is young and dynamic. There are many professional directors who are making excellent fiction and documentaries. African movies have many qualities and AFF shows the best of them. Our poster is an essential part of our communication strategy. No poor or sick children, no giraffes or zebras; no miserable or exotic images but artful pictures of young actors by photographer Kris De Witte because Africa has not only good directors but also good actors
