EIBF is a non-commercial European and International umbrella association representing national Booksellers' Associations and Booksellers over the world. Through its member associations, EIBF speaks on behalf of more than 25.000 individual booksellers.

Geschiedenis
The purpose of the Association is to:
• Lobby on behalf of its  Members and defend their interests in everything concerning the promotion of booksellers worldwide ;
• Promote co-operation and exchanges between associations of booksellers worldwide
• Further cultural and social exchanges between booksellers and booksellers associations.
• The European Booksellers Federation’s mission is represent its Members and defend their interests in everything concerning the promotion of booksellers in Europe, and more particularly in the European Union, and this through contacts with the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of Europe and other institutions.
• The International Booksellers Federation’s main mission is to convene and co-organise the annual congress and to function as a facilitator for the knowledge exchange on business trends, market evolution and best practices.

The Association acts as a framework for reflection, research, study and the implementation of projects aimed at furthering the interests of booksellers worldwide. It shall engage in cooperation with other organisations and legal persons who are involved in the creation, production or distribution of books, or comparable products related to this type of activity.
