Info Lennart Van Uffelen is one thing: Passionate about making furniture. More specifically: furniture that stands out constructively and/or estheticaly. Geschiedenis At first sight one would say Lennart Van Uffelen is a schizophrenic. Making (#Custom) and breaking (#FKF) furniture at the same time. But one must learn to make before he can properly break furniture… Lennart Van Uffelen is one thing: Passionate about making furniture. More specifically: furniture that stands out, esthetically and/or constructively. #FKF Functionality Kills the Fun is a series of “broken” furniture that go by one principle: Functionality is overrated! Products become more interesting when they perform their task partly or even poorly. Most of the time the image or the emotional value that the object generates is what makes it so fascinating. In cases where the functionality is subject to the image you see that the pieces are more open for added value from the individual user. Playing with the limits of functionality leads to questioning yourself as a designer and as an owner. It’s important to create a strong relation between consumer and object where humor and image are equally as important as the function. Much more important then say, holding your books upright. #Custom Apart from making my own series, I also make custom work. Putting detailed finishing first and mixing old and new techniques and esthetiques. Often this happens in collaboration with others or by commission. These works range from large scale interior projects to smaller items. All are handmade in collaboration or by myself.
