BeMSA UCLouvain est le comité local de la Belgian Medical Students Association de l'Université Catholique de Louvain. BeMSA est membre de l'IFMSA.

Mais, qu’est-ce que BeMSA (Beligian Medical Student’s Association) ? …

→ Quoi ?
BeMSA est une organisation « parapluie » pour les étudiants belges en médecine. Nous avons 2 buts principaux : (1) De fournir de l’information et de l’éducation dans les champs à la fois sociaux, académiques, culturels et ethniques pour les étudiants en médecine ; et (2) D’être actifs au sein du réseau international de IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students Associations). Toutes les facultés de médecine belges peuvent rejoindre BeMSA !

C’est ainsi que depuis 2015, l’Université Catholique de Louvain a décidé de créer un nouveau commité local de BeMSA, ici-même, sur le campus d’Alma ! BeMSA-UCL est née…

→ Que faisons-nous concrètement ?
Nous sommes une équipe d'étudiants motivés, qui côtoyent les bancs de vos auditoires, avec pleins de projets dans la tête. Ainsi, pour l’année 2017-2018 :

1) Nous mettons en place 2 types de programmes de stages à l’étranger (été 2018) : SCORE et SCOPE. Ils sont accessibles à TOUS :

>> SCOPE (Standing Committe on Professional Exchange) : 1 mois de stage dans un hôpital d’un autre pays. L'objectif de SCOPE est de promouvoir la compréhension culturelle et la coopération entre étudiants en médecine et professionnels de la santé, à travers la facilitation des échanges internationaux d'étudiants. SCOPE vise à donner à TOUS les étudiants la possibilité d'en apprendre d’avantage sur la santé mondiale.

>> SCORE (Standing Committe on Research Exchange) : 1 mois de stage dans un laboratoire de recherche d’un autre pays. La recherche est essentielle pour le développement de la médecine et sans elle, le domaine médical ne pourrait jamais avoir atteint l'étape où ils sont en ce moment avec des méthodes innovantes de diagnostic et de traitements. Joignez-vous à l’expérience de l’amélioration des compétences en recherche avec un apprentissage culturel inoubliable !

2) SCOPH (Standing Committe on Public Health) : Pour apprendre, acquérir des compétences, coopérer, explorer et partager des idées quand il vient à aborder toutes les questions liées à la santé publique, y compris les questions de santé mondiale, les politiques de santé, promotion de la santé et de l'éducation.

3) SCORA (Standing Committe on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS) : Pour un monde où chaque individu est habilité à exercer ses droits de santé sexuelle et reproductive de manière égale, sans stigmatisation ni discrimination.

4) SCORP (Standing Committee On Human Rights And Peace)

→ L’IFMSA est une organisation indépendante, non-gouvernementale et non-politique représentant tous les associations étudiantes de médecine du monde. Elle a été créée en 1961, et représente plus de 1.3 millions d’étudiants via plus de 100 organisations dans le monde. Elle a été officiellement reconnue par l’Organisation des Nations Unies (ONU) et l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS) comme un forum international d’étudiants médecins.

→ What ?
The Belgian Medical Students’ Association (BeMSA) is an umbrella organization for Belgian medical students with two main goals: (1) to provide information and education in social, academic, cultural and ethical fields for medical students; and (2) to be an active part of the existing international network of IFMSA. Each medical faculty in Belgium can join BeMSA !

Therefore, since 2015, the Université Catholique de Louvain decided to create a new local committee of BemSA, here, on the campus of Alma ! BeMSA-UCL was born…

→ What do we do concretely ?
We are a team of motivated students, with heads full of projects. Therefore, for the year 2017-2018 :

1) We set up 2 types of programms of internships abroad (summer 2018) : SCORE and SCOPE. They are acessible to EVERYONE.

>> SCOPE (Standing Committe on Professional Exchange) : implies 1 month of internship in another country’s hospital. The aim of SCOPE is to promote cultural understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and all health professionals, through the facilitation of international student exchanges. SCOPE aims to give all students the opportunity to learn about global health, and attains this partly by having its exchanges accredited by medical faculties across the world.

>> SCORE (Standing Committee on Research Exchange) : implies 1 month of internship in another countr’ys research laboratory. Research is essential for the development of medicine and without it the medical fields could never have reached the stage they are right now with innovative methods of diagnosis and treatments. Join the experience of improving the research skills with an unforgettable cultural learning and you have the Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE)!

2) SCOPH (Standing Committe on Public Health) : brings together medical students from all over the world to learn, build skills, cooperate, explore and share ideas when it comes to addressing all issues related to public health, including global health issues, health policies, health promotion and education, activities.

3) SCORA (Standing Committe on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS) : A world where every individual is empowered to exercise their sexual and reproductive health rights equally, free from stigma and discrimination.

4) SCORP (Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace)


IFMSA is an independent, non-governmental and non-political federation of medical students' associations throughout the world. It was founded in 1961. It represents 1.3 million medical students from over 100 National Member Organizations worldwide. It is officially recognized by the United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as the international forum for medical students.
