A Lotus Seed aims to bring meditation and mind trainings such as mindfulness into different layers of society through cosy retreats and trainings.
A Lotus Seed want to make meditation and mindfulness accessible to a broader public, by offering cosy retreat experiences in unique and sunny locations across the globe. It also offers trainings to companies, non-profits, hospitals and schools.
Did you know that in the 50's 'running' was seen as something weird? Well, we believe meditation will become as common as going for a run because it is even more necessary in today's society. There are alternative sports for running, but no alternatives to make your mind fit.
We believe in the power of meditation to cultivate seeds of awareness and structurally change brain activity for awareness, focus, attention, creativity and empathy...instead of ego, fear, and depressive feelings.
A Lotus Seed is also a social enterprise meaning that profits will be reinvested as a goal to be able to develop longer term retreats for people with addictions and/or mental health care problems who currently only have a clinical option as alternative.
It also wants to produce a documentary about the science of meditation and make retreats and trainings accessible for those wish to participate but have less financial means. And organize regular meditation get-togethers with the community, in Gent, but also in other cities.
Géraldine founded A Lotus Seed as a way to provide qualitative retreats for people who want to enjoy a relaxation vacation while learning a meditation program that can impact the rest of their lives. She believes that mindfulness and meditation can change the dynamics of society.
Setting up a social enterprise seems to her the fastest and most efficient way of contributing to a more aware society - independent of government and subsidies.
She was trained as a meditation teacher by the Institute of Mindfulness in Belgium with David Dewulf and received teachings from Mark Williams from the University of Oxford (UK) and Christina Feldman from the Insight Meditation Society (US) too, among many others, including monks in several monasteries across Asia.
